Animal Kingdom is one of the parks most loved by us here at home, despite being overlooked by many. He has a whole different way that enchants me a lot. In terms of food, it’s pretty much the same thing: a lot of people don’t give a damn about this park and it’s one of the most complete in terms of food. It only loses to Epcot and look there.

You can find a very varied menu there, from light things to full “foot in jack” options. It has more sophisticated restaurants and options that fit any budget. Anyway, you can find a bit of everything walking through the Animal Kingdom with emphasis on the Asian and African influence in some places.

Of course, like every park, it also has that classic hole that sounds like a good idea but is actually the error in the form of food. So, like what we’ve done with other Disney parks, today I’m going to explore a little more the options of restaurants in this park to help you enjoy all the delights and only eat what’s worth it.

For that, it’s worth clarifying some basic concepts beforehand if you haven’t seen our other food guides in the parks:

  • Quick Service: it’s the counter service restaurants, good old “fast food” which doesn’t just mean cheeseburgers and pizza, right? Some have a “food court” to sit and eat, others you have to find somewhere or a wall to accommodate yourself.
  • Table Service: restaurants with table service, waiter and everything else. There are 3 types of Table Service restaurants:
  • A la carte: where you receive the menu at the table, order what you want and pay accordingly.
  • Buffet: where you pay a fixed amount to eat at a buffet. Disney buffets now include most drinks as well.
  • Family Style: or “family style” which is how we eat in our house. Several containers with food are placed on the table and you can eat at will. If you want more of any item, just ask the waiter. These restaurants also have a fixed price and at Disney this value already includes the consumption of most drinks.
  • Character Dining: Some Disney Table Service restaurants feature the distinguished presence of characters to interact with visitors and we will identify them here.

Character Dining at Animal Kingdom

Tusker House

Location: Africa
Menu: click here

One of the coolest Disney character buffets for breakfast, lunch and even dinner in the park.

This restaurant is huge and the menu is very varied, containing classic American dishes as well as options with an African touch. Plus, bring Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Daisy to the party!

Tusker_House_Animal_Kingdom

Great chance to eat well and interact with cool characters. The tip is to schedule a breakfast very early in the morning (first time, before the park opens).

That way you can eat with the characters and still leave the restaurant in time to go on Safari as soon as it opens, before other visitors have the opportunity to pass through the turnstile.

So, in addition to avoiding lines, you have a greater chance of catching more animals awake.

Table Service Restaurants at Animal Kingdom (no characters)

Yak and Yeti Restaurant

Location: Asia
Menu: click here

Animal Kingdom doesn’t have so many table services restaurants, but it made great choices. Yak & Yeti may not have characters (like Tusker House) or such a flashy theme (like Rainforest) but when it comes to food, it’s a champion.

Of course, it’s a matter of personal taste here, as the dishes have a strong Asian influence, but I think it’s all very tasty and interesting. For those who want to try different and well-cooked food, it’s my favorite alternative in this park!

Rainforest Cafe

Location: Park entrance
Menu: click here

This restaurant, popular with tourists for its jungle theme, also has a unit at the entrance to Animal Kingdom. You can eat with or without a ticket to the park: the restaurant has a turnstile inside for those who want access to the park.

Rainforest is a cool option for those families who share (part go to the park and part don’t) but want to meet for lunch. My family did that a lot. Anyway, it’s worth mentioning that the Rainforest also has a unit in Disney Springs, so you might prefer to eat elsewhere while in Animal Kingdom.

Tiffins

Location: Discovery Island
Menu: click here

This restaurant was one of the recent additions to Animal Kingdom that we already enjoyed a lot. It’s a more exotic and more expensive restaurant, but for those who enjoy a gastronomic experience, it’s really worth it. It’s all beautifully done and completely different from other Orlando menus.

tiffin-surf-turf-Animal-Kingdom-Restaurant

With a very strong Asian and African influence, the flavors are far from what we are used to eating in and Orlando.

I think the result is delicious but the price goes with it, so prepare your pocket if you want to come here. For those who just want to know the space, have a drink and a snack, you have the option of staying at the Nomad Lounge, the restaurant’s bar. See our full Tiffins review here.

Quick Service Restaurants in Animal Kingdom

Satu’li Canteen

Location: Pandora
Menu: click here

This restaurant in the new Avatar area is another great food option in the park. Satu’li Canteen was the first to bring the novelty of allowing you to order your dish by cell phone, as we have already explained in more detail here. It has a menu with different options for grains, vegetables and proteins.

You choose to create your own combination in a bowl (bowl), among the options that are beef, chicken, fish, tofu. There’s a really yummy blue dessert (cream cheese mousse with blueberry) to get you in the Avatar mood.

It’s a good option for those looking for a more diversified, tasty, quality food and want to get away from the burger and pizza spending little. It has an indoor air-conditioned lounge, which can be very welcome (and popular) in the Florida summer.

Creature Comforts

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Starbucks representative at the park as you may already know, I’m not that big a fan. I love Starbucks but I don’t think it fits Disney. Anyway, you’ll find some classics from the network here, among other things.

Harambe Market

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

I think it’s an overrated place, but it never impressed me. The space at Harambe Market is very cute but the food, although varied, I didn’t like.

Harambe Market Food at Animal Kingdom

I didn’t really enjoy the corn dog preparation there, made with a jumbo sausage in a curry dough. Bored! Super oily and tasteless. The coconut and chocolate tart is not bad, but I find it boring for anyone who has ever eaten a kiss or coconut candy in their life.

The ribs there are also far from Disney’s best. Finally, I think the grill options are the best options at Harambe Market, but other Animal Kingdom fastfoods still bring much tastier food.

Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafe

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: click here

My favorite quick service restaurant in Animal Kingdom. Very different options and always very tasty. I love the chicken with honey sauce! No wonder there’s always a certain line, but it’s worth it. For me it is one of the best good and cheap restaurants in Disney.

Mr. Kamal’s

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: Not Available

Another one that I was in doubt whether it was in this section or in quick services restaurants, but I ended up leaving it here.

Everything depends on the size of your hunger, but here you can find more different foods, such as a portion of humus (with bread) and a falafel sandwich.

Caravan Road

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: click here

It’s just a kiosk but it can serve as lunch for those looking for different and healthy alternatives. Sells edamame, Asian noodle salad and a few other little things.

Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: Not Available

Another kiosk with more “full-bodied” options, which deserve to be mentioned here, such as a few different sandwiches.

Restaurantosaurus

Location: Dinoland
Menu in Portuguese: click here

A more traditional quick service restaurant, with dishes like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, nuggets and such.

If you find everything else too different for your taste, Restaurantosaurus might be your thing.

Trilo-Bites

Location: Dinoland
Menu in Portuguese: click here

It’s a kiosk with few options. In fact these days it sells more ice cream than food.

Flame Tree BBQ

Location: Discovery Island
Menu in Portuguese: click here

A very carnivorous restaurant with many options: ribs, roast chicken, pork sandwich… well, it’s not a light option.

Flame Tree BBQ Animal Kingdom

It’s not my favorite place but I think it might please those who want a little more substance, you know?

PizzaFari

Location: Discovery Island
Menu in Portuguese: click here

It’s not the best option in my opinion, but it’s definitely a safe place for those who don’t want to invent fashion.

Pizzafari+Animal+Kingdom+Park
Pizzafari+Animal+Kingdom+Park

Disney fast food pizza is always Disney fast food pizza. Pizzafari even has other options but nothing that impresses too much. And as I always say that good pizza at Disney is only on Via Napoli, at Animal Kingdom I prefer other restaurants.

Tasty snacks & snacks from Animal Kingdom

Pongu Pongu

Location: Pandora
Menu in Portuguese: click here

The name means “Party Party” in Avatar dialect, and it is a kiosk that offers different drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) with the theme of Pandora, as well as beers and draft beer.

Pongu Pongu at Pandora Animal Kingdom

The only snack offered here is egg rolls with pineapple cream cheese I have not ventured to prove, but if you count proved to us what you think in the comments below 🙂

Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

A nice place for a quick breakfast. There you will find options of bagels, muffins, and breads for all tastes, as well as other breakfast classics such as cereals, yogurt and so on.

Despite the focus being breakfast, it’s also not bad when it comes to killing that hunger in the middle of the afternoon. I always end up eating something there at some point during my visit to Animal Kingdom.

Harambe Fruit Market

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Healthy food is also tasty and for those who want a little chopped fruit to eat for a snack in the park, this is the best place. That’s considering you didn’t bring your berry in your backpack, of course.

Harambe Fruit Market
Harambe Fruit Market

At the Harambe Fruit Market you will find many delicious fruit options ready for you to take for a snack. It has broken pineapple and apple, washed strawberry and many other options. Cool!

Zuri’s Sweets Shop

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: Not Available

It’s a candy store with a really cool proposition. The sweets, besides being delicious, are very cute and everything to do with the theme of the park. It has everything to be successful, especially with children.

Tamu Tamu Refreshments

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Mentioning because there are different ice cream options, but nothing that catches my attention, if you surrender, then tell me what you think.

Dawa Bar

Location: Africa
Menu in Portuguese: click here

I personally don’t think Animal Kingdom is in the mood for you to have a cocktail or a drink, but there are people who disagree. That’s why the Dawa Bar serves a few different drink options.

Anandapur Ice Cream Truck

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: click here

I can’t even explain why I like this truck that serves ice cream in the best McDonalds style so much.

That soft ice cream in vanilla, chocolate and mixed flavors. It’s the simplest thing in the world but I really like the existence of the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck and the ice cream served there.

Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages

Location: Asia
Menu in Portuguese: click here

The focus here is the different drinks, but it is worth mentioning that it also has some interesting sandwich options to go with it.

Dino Bite Snacks

Location: Dinoland
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Another place for you to have a nice ice cream, here in the most traditional style of Disney’s ice cream parlors. It’s worth mentioning here because Disney’s chocolate-covered ice cream is never too much, right? An ice cream sandwich and freshly pressed cookies also always go down well! 🙂

Dino Diner

Location: Dinoland
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Another food kiosk. The most interesting thing served there is a small plate of nachos, but I think it’s kind of boring.

Dino Diner Animal Kingdom
Dino Diner Animal Kingdom

I think the nachos sold at the Mexican pavilion at Epcot are much more delicious.

Terra Treats

Location: Discovery Island
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Very cool option for those who can’t or don’t want to eat gluten. This kiosk has several gluten-free food alternatives, such as bagels, muffins, cookies, cupcakes, donuts and so on.

Isle of Java

Location: Discovery Island
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Good alternative for those who want to have a quick breakfast in the park. Full of muffins, bagels, croissants and other things other than Starbucks.

Eight Spoon Cafe

Location: Discovery Island
Menu in Portuguese: click here

Another food kiosk that, among more basic items, also sells a gratin cheese mass.

Eight Spoon Cafe

But don’t expect too much from her. It’s a reheated mass there in the kiosk.

Conclusion about Where to Eat at the Animal Kingdom

This park has as many different options as it is classic and is one of the easiest to find something nice to eat. For me, it’s more interesting from a gastronomic point of view than more popular parks like Magic Kingdom or Universal’s.

In my opinion, Animal Kingdom always surprises and that’s why I love this park. It exceeds expectations in shows and attractions and also in food.
